Silk flowers have come a long way in recent years. In fact the term "silk" does not really apply anymore but it is such a widely recognized term for today’s artificial flowers that are actually made of much more durable fabrics, foams and plastics.

Eight and half years ago when I got married I had already been in and around the floral industry for 6 years. Ideally I would have used the flower shop where I grew up and first began my craft; however, I was getting married in a town 5 hours away and that was not an option for me. So I asked around and found a flower shop to take care of all my wedding needs.

I was so excited about the ideas I had for my own bridal bouquet. I had seen and designed so many over the years, but it was finally my turn to be the bride. I went into the flower shop and explained exactly what it was that I had in mind. I took tons of pictures from different bridal magazines and even some that I had drawn for the florist to see just to make sure we were all on the same page. Then I crossed my fingers, left the flower shop and hoped that 2 months later when I walked down the isle I would be holding my dream bridal bouquet.

Nope. We were so not on the same page.
